Supplier Quality Engineer (Interior)

General Summary:

Responsible for reviewing current internal and external quality indicators and ensuring quality of parts provided by suppliers.

Essential Primary Duties and Responsbilities

  • Gather data from multiple sources, decipher complex data looking for root cause and improvement points that can be implemented to improve the complete customer experience.
  • Review production processes and vehicle quality output. Conduct PFEMA and Control Plan Audits on vaious production processes.
  • Work on quick investigation items when requested to assist production groups in coming up with short term counter measures.
  • Work on Complex Problems as assigned. Activities will include hands-on work looking for root cause and temporary/permanent counter measures, may also lead cross-functional work teams in doing so.
  • Lead new car Quality Engineering activities including:
  • Vehicle audits, reporting of findings, tracking counter measures and verifying their effectiveness, , drawing and lessons learned reviews, Create Inspection Standards, Conduct Real World Driving evaluations, may manage vehicle testing fleet, may work with outside testing companies.

Qualifications and Job Requirements

  • B.S. degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related field, two (2) to five (5) years’ experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably automotive, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong self-responsibility, planning, and organizational skills, able to perform multi-tasks within set time frames.
  • Flexible schedule to work overtime, holidays and weekends as required.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
  • Analytical problem solving and effective decision-making skills.
  • Hands on skills and ability to work directly on vehicles while investigating concerns.
  • Broad understanding vehicle systems and how the interrelated to the complete car and customer experience
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and discretion in both exercising company decisions and carrying out essential job duties that affect efficient business operations and its objectives, policies, practices, and conditions.
  • Ability to lead cross functional teams from multiple departments

Specialized Skills and Knowledge Required

  • Possess technical skills and knowledge of quality control systems in a fast paced manufacturing environment.  
  • Understand Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP).
  • Experience using Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Access.
  • Experience with SAP system preferred.
