Body QC, CMM Engineer (2nd Shift)

General Summary:

Develop broad understanding and application of the automotive industry standards and continually strive for improvements and excellence in all facets of the business. Ensure quality standards of parts provided by suppliers and in-house operations. 

Essential Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare and publish weekly and monthly plans and schedules for use of CMM equipment. 
  • Measure current production BIWs for Body Accuracy Score reporting. 
  • Develop CMM programs for special projects and new models. 
  • Complete Special Check requests as needed. 
  • Evaluate CMM reports to highlight areas of concern and provide feedback to Body Accuracy Spec. 
  • Review CMM reports to identify Body Accuracy improvement areas and coordinate improvement activities. 
  • Audit and improve CMM reports as needed (correcting errors and verifying data). 
  • Identify, implement, and track efficiency improvements for standard BIW measurements. 
  • Perform regular audits to correlate the various measurement systems (CMM, White Light, FARO, etc.). 
  • Implement and validate new measurement equipment such as Side Wall fixture, Moving Part gages, etc.

Qualifications and Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field along with two (2) to five (5) years of progressive experience in quality control or supplier quality experience within a manufacturing environment preferably the automotive industry in body-in-white, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks with multiple priorities and time frame. 
  • Possess strong self-responsibility. 
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and discretion in making recommendations, exercising company decisions, and carrying out essential job duties that affect efficient business operations and its objectives, policies, practices, and conditions. 
  • Strong problem solving, technical, planning, organizational and decision-making skills and experience in the area of quality control in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. 
  • Flexible schedule to work overtime, holidays and weekends as required. 
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally.

Specialized Skills and Knowledge Required

  • Experience using Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Access. 
  • Experience with SAP system preferred.
