General Summary:

To support and assists in all areas related to the administration of the 401K program and assist team members with benefits questions by serving as the first point of contact to answer questions, advise of benefit options available, and collaborate with carriers and brokers.

Essential Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the administration of 401(k) program to ensure retirement plan is administered in accordance with company, state, and federal guidelines and regulations. Maintain knowledge of legal and regulatory changes, trends, and other developments affecting retirement benefits. 
  • Lead day-to-day administration and assist team members with  benefits questions by serving as first point of contact to answer questions, advise of benefit options available, and  collaborating with carriers and broker.
  • Responsible for the timeliness, accuracy and maintenance of benefits-related data in the Human Resource Information System and benefit file feeds to carriers; provide reports as requested.
  • Ensure accuracy of all plan documents and materials that govern the plan. Ensure compliance and regulatory requirements are met for benefits plans, and timely filing of governmental reporting.
  • Conduct mid-year and year end non-discrimination testing, internal and external audits, 5500 annual filing, and responding to auditor requests for information.
  • Audit payroll to ensure appropriate 401(k) deductions are deducted from team member paychecks, ensuring timely submission of 401(k) employee contributions, employer matching contributions and loan re-payments.
  • Coordinate benefits processing for terminations, changes, beneficiaries, death claims, rollovers, QDROs, QMCSOs, distributions, loans, hardships and compliance testing.
  • Apply strong strategic thinking, advanced presentation and communication skills in order to independently prepare proposals and presentations for various levels of leadership
  • Analyze and review benefit programs and recommend changes in design, pricing, financing, and vendors as necessary to ensure programs are efficient, market competitive, compliant with regulatory requirements and aligned to Kia Georgia’s strategic objectives.
  • Responsible for Total Rewards budget generation, monitoring and tracking.
  • Must maintain confidentiality and non-disclosure of team member and company information and data. Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
  • Design and distribute materials for communication/educational, benefits orientations, annual enrollment, annual notices/disclosures and summary plan descriptions.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as designated.

Qualifications and Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business or related field along with two (2) to five (5) years of progressive experience in the human resource field in a manufacturing environment preferably within the automotive industry, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with multiple vendors.
  • Excellent judgment required to handle sensitive and confidential information.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Technical knowledge of HRIS (Human Resources Information System) (preferably SAP)
  • Ability to work independently to complete assignments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Specialized Skills and Knowledge Required

  • Knowledge of COBRA, HIPAA, ERISA and benefit laws.
  • Knowledge of Retirement Benefit Plans.
  • Experience using Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Access.
  • Experience with SAP system preferred.
